Love is in the air!

I have not always like the Valentine's Day Holiday.
I would only celebrate it for my mother.
February 14th is her birthday!
There's a cute story to go along with it...
That's for later though!

Since it was our first Valentine's as a married couple, Kenny wanted to make it special.
We have this really good friend who is a professional gourmet chef. He offered to make a 4-course meal for FREE to help us celebrate our first Valentine's day together.
(Thanks Josh, you are superb!)

Love was in the air!


The first course was soup (can't remember what kind).
The second course was a spinach, mandarin salad!
I forgot to take pictures of that one!

The third course was spinach alfredo with fettuccine, chicken and some toasted garlic bread...


It was FABULOUS!!!


and last but DEFINITELY not least, the fourth course was Cheesecake!

It was a great first Valentine's Day!
I think I will celebrate Valentine's Day every year,
and not just for my mom's birthday
but for the holiday itself!

There is no place like home!

There is no place like home...
Where is home?
For me, home is Chico, Ca!
I moved to Chico when I was 2.
I lived there for 19 years.
I consider it home.
Once a Cali girl, always a Cali girl!
Kenny and I had an open house in Chico.
It was GREAT to see friends and family.
I felt like I had come back home.
Kenny did not quite feel at home, however.
He got sick with the flu and had to stay in bed during the open house.
He wasn't able to meet all of the wonderful people in my home town.
I did make him eat at all of the DELICIOUS restaurants that Chico has to offer:
La Comida, Hulas, In N Out, La Hacienda, Jon N Bons, and the works!
I just can't get enough!

Our First Christmas!

The whole month of December was very busy and crazy for us. We had the wedding, the honeymoon, the open house and then, of course, Christmas. We wanted to relax and take it easy around Christmas so we just spent the day with my parents and my brother Landon and his family. It was a wonderful day! It is always fun when little kids are around.

Every year we do secret santa. This year we decided to do couples. My sister and her husband had us. They got us a warm blanket and a cute little car ornament that says 'Just married' on the window...


Kenny and I have a Wii. Everytime the family gets together we play it. It is kind of like a family tradition now. We have lots of fun! For Christmas, I surprised Kenny and got him Guitar Hero World Tour (its like Rock Band, just Guitar Hero style). He was quite surprised. It is a good family game.


Overall, we had a great Christmas. We love spending time with our family and spending time with eachother.

BYU loses to a snow storm!

We had an open house in Tremonton, Utah where Kenny is from. If you don't know where Tremonton is, it is located west of Logan. Tremonton is a small little town (my family makes jokes about it alot and we like to say it has a population of 5!) If you know my family we like to joke about anything and everything. Anyways, Kenny has lived in Tremonton since he was 4 so we decided to have an open house so all of his friends could attend . Mother Nature did not quite agree with us, it DUMPED and I mean DUMPED snow that day. It snowed so bad that they closed down part of the interstate so all of the traffic was forced to take the back roads. Kenny and I arrived right when the open house was suppose to start. I had to get ready in the car and thanks to Kenny's family and some extra hands mostly everything was set up and ready to go by the time we arrived. Despite the weather, we had a pretty good turn out. There were several people who were hoping to come but couldn't because they were stuck in the snow. My parents arrived with just an hour left in the open house. Bless their hearts, they were determined to be there for us.

So my dad informed me that he was not going to attend my open house unless he was able to watch the BYU Las Vegas Bowl game. If you know my family, this is no big surprise. We would not miss a BYU game for anything...

As you can see, I gave in and allowed the game to play during the open house. Sadly, they lost but we say that BYU lost to a snow storm. That night I think we all lost to a snow storm.

Our open house was lovely and very laid back which I liked.

My good friend Deanna is a life saver. She helped do some of the flowergirl and bridesmaids hair for my wedding and she did my hair the day of the open house. Thanks Deanna. It turned out beautiful!

Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'...

I love summertime and ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about having a summer outside wedding. My wedding was the first week in December! I was fine with that just as long as there was no snow. No snow in the beginning of December, ya right! So I did a lot of wishin', and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin' that somehow, someway my wedding day would be snow free. Well my wish was granted and my prayers were answered because on the day of my wedding it was 60 degrees, blue skies, big fluffy while clouds, light breeze and NO snow on the ground. Kenny and I left for our honeymoon the following monday and as soon as we left the state of Utah the snow began to fall. In fact, it snowed the entire two weeks we were in Florida. We were almost not able to get home because of all of the snow. We had made it to Denver and our flight was delayed like 3 hours, it wasn't too bad because some flights had gotten canceled. We finally got on the plane and right when we were about 100 miles from landing in Utah they closed the Salt Lake Airport due to heavy snow fall and they had to fly us back to Denver. We landed in Denver and they turned off the engine and made all the passengers remain in their seats. We sat on the plane for a good 45 minutes waiting for them to tell us the Salt Lake airport was open. After a long, hot, needing fresh air 45 minutes they finally decided to let us off the plane. They redirected us to a terminal and said that as soon as the Salt Lake Airport opened they would stick us on a plane and fly us home. Several Salt Lake flights got re-routed to Denver, since there were so many people needing to get to Salt Lake they decided they were going to stick all of us on one big plane, however, that big plane wasn't going to arrive in Denver for another 2 hours. At this point, I started to get a little nervous because we had an open house for our wedding the very next day. After much stress and trying every possible way to get back to Utah the plane finally arrived and they loaded all of us on one plane. We landed in Utah at roughly midnight. As we were exiting the plane they was a group of people who applauded us that we finally made it to Utah and that the plane they were all waiting for had finally arrived! My parents were troopers staying up that late so we could get a ride home. We had been awake since 6 that morning so we were very grateful to be home and to be able to sleep in our own bed after a long and tiring day. I guess almost getting stuck in Denver and almost not being able to make it to our open house due to snow is worth not having snow on your wedding day! Be careful what you wish, hope, think and pray for!

Thing 1 and Thing 2!

Another highlight in our adventure was Universal Studios! I convinced Kenny to buy a shirt and be my Thing 2. Here we are in front of the Universal Studios store in our shirts...


This fountain was awesome! It would talk to people walking by and shot water at them. It was hilarious! We were very entertained...


Seuss Landing... My favorite part of Universal Studios! It is so cute. It looks just like the little villages in the Dr. Seuss books. Fully packed with characters from the books as well.


We went and saw the show 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'

We had a great time on our honeymoon and although we were sad to go, our adventures didn't stop there. Stayed tuned for more fun adventures with Kenny and Ashlie.

Happily ever after!

Kenny and I went on a 2-week honeymoon to Orlando, Florida (where we met)! We had all sorts of adventures. One of the highlights of our trip was Walt Disney World. Here are some pictures of our days at Walt Disney World...

The wedding ears were a must buy! Kenny was such a great sport and wore them. The World of Disney is the best Disney store ever. Anything, anything at all that you can think of, you can buy it there, Disney style! Kenny and I came home with lots of fun gifts!


Kenny and I went right before Christmas. There was Christmas decor galore! At every Disney park there was a Christmas tree in front, that went along with the theme for that park. If you look close enough, you will see animal ornaments in the tree. It was sitting in front of the Animal Kingdom. How creative!


Although, all of the parks are fun. Magic Kingdom is probably our favorite. There is SO much to do!


This was probably the 3rd or 4th time in a row going on Splash Mountain. Soaked and a bit cold but SO worth it!


Everytime we would go down the HUGE drop on Splash Mountain, we would make a different face for the picture. So when we got down to the bottom we would take a picture of the face we made. Of course, the picture was more funny on the way down then trying to imitate it!


One of our favorite things to do is watch movies/shows in 3-D. Our cute 3-D glasses for our favorite 3-D show 'Mickey's Phillar Magic.' If you ever go to Walt Disney World, you need to go see this show.

For Christmas, they put Christmas lights up on Cinderella's castle. It is so gorgeous! The castle changes colors every so often. Here the castle is bluish/green...

Every night at Magic Kingdom they have a fireworks show called 'Wishes'. It is incredible!
