Kenny started one of his last semesters of school at Utah Valley University this last week. He is majoring in Public Relations and Information Systems and Technologies (a double major, WAHOO!) with a minor in Spanish. He is my little computer nerd. I would not have him any other way!
It was his first semester at UVU. I felt like a mother taking my child to their first day of school. I was worried for him. I made sure he had everything he needed. I made his schedule, I printed off a map of campus, and gave him specific directions on where to park, how to walk to class, and where the bookstore was, etc. Was it a little extreme?!?! That is debatable. I just like to think of it as preparing myself for when I have children and I send them off to school. It may be a little more extreme or an extremely little different experience. We will just have to wait and see...
I just did not want him getting lost or to be late! He is so good to me. He just let me do my thing. I am just trying to be a good wife and fulfill my duties. So far so good! He is enjoying his classes and is doing very well. I guess sometimes I worry a little too much. I am so proud of him and I am so grateful that he is in my life.

In just a matter of minutes...
Dear Sister, (as written in a text message)
We are in the ER. Addie hit her head, passed out and had a small seizure. Please say a prayer!
When I read those words, my heart sank! What happened? Is she okay? I immediately gathered my parents and we knelt in family prayer.
I had responded back with, call brother so your hubby and brother can give her a blessing.
What seemed like hours went by... My sister finally called and informed us that Addie was okay. I then said a silent prayer in my head thanking the Lord for the power of prayer and the power of the priesthood. I also expressed my gratitude to the worthy priesthood holders in my life, that in just a matter of minutes they were able to give Addie a blessing and through the power that they have, she was able to be okay.
My sister had told me that Addie was at home, pushing her stroller around when she bumped into the coffee table (a daily routine). The stroller had collapsed and she hit her head on the edge of the table. She fell down and passed out. As my sister went to pick her up, your arms and legs became limp, her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she started to shake. My sister couldn't get Addie to respond and she couldn't get Addie to look at her. My sister, who is a very skilled nurse became a little nervous. She promptly told her husband to call 911. Addie continued to shake for a good 3 minutes. Right as he was calling 911, Addie stopped shaking. It was then when they rushed her to the ER. They took tests and did not find anything wrong. It did not take Addie long to bounce back to her normal self. As I was talking to my sister, I heard Addie talking in the background. Laughing and singing to all of the nurses. She definitely melted everyones heart! Thankfully, this did not turn into anything major.
When thinking more about this incident later, it made me realize just how precious life really is. A life can be taken in just a matter of minutes. Something that you may do on a daily basis, may not seem that harmful, when it may actually change your perspective on life. When thinking about this, it helps me remember the importance of life, the importance of my family, the importance of the gospel, the importance of the people in my life, the importance of love and gratitude, as well as expressing these importances on a daily basis. Most of the time, telling or showing someone you love or appreciate them just takes a matter of minutes!

Welcoming Sophia Machelle!
Welcome Sophia Machelle Prinkey! Born on July 8, 2009 (07-08-09) at 07:08 am. She was 8 lbs. 15 ozs and 20 inches long. She is such a doll. She is loved so much!

The ARMY of One, One for the ARMY!
My brother in law Shawn is in the ARMY Reserve. He got promoted to Captian. We now call him "CP" (Captian Prinkey). WOOOHOOO!
Most of the Gibson gang (including former Gibsons too!) went to celebrate his promotion.
We are an ARMY of ONE!
They had an ARMY promotional awards ceremony for him. It was neat!
#1 for Shawn and the ARMY.
Afterwards, we had a PARTY to celebrate his new rank. My sister knows how to throw parties. The theme was "Red, White and Blue". All of the attendees had to either wear Red, White and Blue or Camo. Every little detail fit together so perfectly. The party was a big hit. GO Nat GO!

Friends for Football
John Beck is a former BYU football quarterback.
Does the name ring a bell?
Maybe this will refresh your memory,
Rivalry game Utah vs BYU...
BYU was trailing behind with just a few minutes left in the game
John Beck threw a pass to Johnny Harline in the endzone with no time remaining in the game.
BYU won! It was a great victory!
Years followed and our BYU's slogan for Utah was 'Harline is still open.'

John Beck now plays for the Baltimore Ravens.
He has this foundation entitled "Friends for Football."
"His goal in creating the foundation was to give those from underprivileged circumstances the opportunity to enjoy the game and learn the valuable lessons football has to offer. Many youth today miss out on participation in local leagues because of the cost of registration. Not only do they miss out on football but they miss out on the growth and learning that comes from organized football."

To raise money for his foundation John Beck put together an auction and golf tournament. There was a great turn out and many people donated items and products to this great cause. Since my family is good friends with the Beck family we had to opportunity of helping out. It was a lot of fun!
Many current and former athletic stars were there:
Ty Detmer (he was a Quarterback and won a Heisman Trophy)
Shawn Bradley (his golf club is as tall as me...lol) He is 7 feet 6 inches! He use to play basketball for BYU and then went on the play for the Dallas Mavericks.
Brian Kehl (he played as a linebacker for BYU last year)
Many others. There were TONS of people there it was hard to get pictures with all of them. I was able to get most of them to autograph a football though.
My dad got an autographed football of 25 Heisman trophy winners. Courtesy of Ty Detmer!
I am a HUGE fan of Steve Young! He was not able to make it to the golf tournament but John Beck got me an autographed football from him. This is me with the football! John Beck said he was going to try to get me to meet him someday. That is one famous person I will be able to cross off my list...
John Beck has such a good heart. He was able to raise lots of money for his foundation. I am grateful for the opportunity I had for helping out.
